Pinkerton Returns to WeatherTech LMP3 with MLT, Behind the Wheel this Time

Birmingham, AL 6/20/2023:

Andrew Pinkerton, will make his driving debut in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship at Watkins Glen in the MLT Motorsports Ligier LMP3. Still acting as the team’s chief strategist and Performance Engineer, Pinkerton will add driving duties to his plate along side Jason Rabe and Stevan McAleer. As a strategist, Andrew oversaw the team’s first steps into the top tier sportscar championship in 2022 and some near misses with success out of the gate.

This will not be the driver from Birmingham, Alabama’s first go at pulling double duty in the IMSA paddock as he last did this in TCR with AOA Racing at Daytona in 2021. Since this last driving start, Andrew has been engineering and calling strategy in various series. Seeing podium success in GS with FCP Euro, PerformanceTech Motorsports in LMP3, and the Lamborghini World Finals Champions with ANSA Motorsports in the last 12 months.

“It has been a wild ride for me in racing, with most of my recent success coming out of the car. I can’t thank Dr. Mike Thompson enough for this opportunity to show my talents behind the wheel again, and help secure our team’s strategy to chase the top step of the podium.” Pinkerton added “Last year we had a really strong car, but never got to show our hand at the end. We are all looking forward to showing what we know this team and driver lineup are capable of.”
